spring times in the north of England (bluebells, lambs!)
a good cuppa (milk, no sugar please)
Austrian summers (swimming outdoors, that delicious ice cream)
English cheese (on crackers or tea loaf)
Alpine pastures straight from Heidi (the sound of cow bells)
How I got here
After completing a degree in German studies and English literature at Lancaster University, I moved to Austria in 2011 to teach at the Department of English Studies at the University of Graz. A couple of months later, I started studying for a master’s degree in translation and interpreting. In 2014, I began working as a translator and editor at Y’Plus translation office. Then, two years later, having completed my master’s degree, I decided that it was time for a new challenge. So, in January 2017, I set up my own company, quillcrafted by Susannah Leopold.
As a translator, I am also a writer. I believe that texts should be crafted carefully to communicate just the right message. I believe that words have power, that they can transform the way others see you. The image of the feather quill harks back to a time when each manuscript was a work of art, created by hand, written by a skilled scribe. It represents the level of care, passion and professionalism that I bring to my work.
